THE BRITISH COUNCIL TO OFFER PROCUREMENT & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT MASTER CLASSES IN 2013

Following British Council’s highly successful procurement and supply chain management related executive training program, the organization shall be running separate two day not-for-profit quarterly executive insight master classes in 2013. The aim is to further enlighten, functional custodians and practitioners from all sectors of the economy, on selected aspects of supply chain management and its inextricable link to public and private sector service delivery; organizational, value chain performance and competitiveness.

As part of his Pan African quasi- academic and industrial social responsibility, Dr Douglas Boateng, CEO of the PanAvest partnership, Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing African Advisory Board, President of the Institute of Operations Management Africa, and the Institute of Operations management Distinguished extraordinary chair in operations and supply chain management professional development has agreed to facilitate all the programs in 2013.

All four master classes are recognized by both the UK’ Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and the Institute of Operations Management, as part of their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) initiatives in Africa.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Moses Anibaba, country director for British Council said “We are delighted to be offering such strategically important human capital development programmes. This joint initiative aims to create more awareness on how thought leading procurement, operations and supply chain management related practices can be used to achieve further productivity improvements in government, state owned enterprises, private sector organizational growth and industrial development”.

“In today’s highly competitive world, governments and various corporations do not compete for clients and scarce resources; rather it is their respective supply chains that compete and deliver required products and services. Increasingly,  public and private sector  managing executives and policy makers are  turning to professional procurement, logistics, operations and supply chain officers to assist in strategically positioning their organizations  and respective supply chains for long term sustainable advantage” Dr. Boateng indicated.

The first master class, titled “Managing the sourcing process in a supply chain” is scheduled from 26th -27th   and February and 28th – 1st March 2013 at the British Council in Accra. The focus is on how public and private sector executives can strategically manage this sub-process to achieve bottom-line performance, industrial competitiveness, productivity improvements in service delivery and local job creation; small enterprise growth and long national economic development.

The target audiences for the master classes include, Government employees, private sector executives, accountants and finance officers. Others are operations , procurement, logistics and supply chain management practitioners, human resources personnel, scientists, doctors, agriculturalists, health and education service personnel, lawyers, consultants, administrators, policy makers, planners, ICT personnel, media practitioners, non-governmental organizational executives, trainers and academics, marketers, engineers, project managers etc.
